All Purpose Conventional Rod
I'm looking for a 7 ft rod to match up with my ambassadeur c3. A rod that could cover from bottom fishing for fluke, scup and seabass to livelining for stripers. I would like to stay around $100 if possible. Any suggestions? I'm heading down to M&D's on Sunday so I wanted to get some ideas. I fish mostly around Monomoy.
Thanks, Tony |

Bryan, how does the rod handle braid? I was going to run 20 or 30# fireline on it. |
I run 30lb spectra and 50lb powerpro on them...
fluke to 9, bass to 30+ and tons of bluefish on them.. I have two 7ft; 1 10-20 and 1 12-25.. go heavier rather than lighter for a better all around.. I'm not sure about the new model #'s... mine are both over 6 years old... |
Thanks Bryan, I will look into purchasing those rods.

Does anyone know if the compre can be used for trolling as well? I would like to troll tubes, umbrella rigs, and snap jigs with it. Does the medium/heavy or heavy rod have enough backbone?

Any of the St. Croix series muskie rods. Choose the line weight you want to fish with.
I got the 6'6" 40-50 #. Alot of backbone, very light. |
Thats a great rod but I would like to spend a little less. I found a 7ft compre heavy 15-30 at boaters world for $47. Does anyone have experience with this rod? It seems alot cheaper than the other compre rods.

Ugly Stick
I think its a tiger model, yellow, about 6', nice action. I use it for everything, I can even cast (a bit) with a C3 on it. |
