PAY ATTENTION

If you have any interest in old wood atom 40's.

it's my beleif that uppon further inspection of the older atom 40's that Mr. Bob made two[2] swimming style's of the same lure.

One being fatter in the tail end with 2"1/8 of lead,,making this lure a slower swimming tail wiggler than it's counterpart w/no lead,,making this lure swim with a much tighter/faster tail wiggle.

sneaky man that Mr. Bob.

CS, between the 2 where would the plastic fit in.

Backbeach Jake 02-14-2006 05:36 PM

Oh, goodie! Atom 40 class! Let's have it CS. I'm about to spin and I don't wanna make poo.

capesams 02-14-2006 05:39 PM

after Bob ran outta wood an got himself a girlfriend.

all plastic came after the wood,,,wasn't making any money so he met up with gentlemen from RI who just happen to own a machine shop where the mold[1] was made..I say one because that one mold made both the swimmer and reverse...the man who made this mold is still around and is making the same lure in a smaller size..same plastic too...weighted/unweighted..but only in reverse right now.

Stan told me the fatter tailed ones with less of a slope were made for the the guys trolling. Said the added wood gave it a more snake like swim when trolled.

capesams 02-14-2006 06:48 PM

swam both in my bath tub....won't say what the wife asked.

I was think the same thing tailweights are for trollers the ones i have messed with they do the best.

NIB, you look like a troll

NIB 02-14-2006 07:11 PM

When Numbskull said last week the 40 had the weight in the tail. I though to myself he's got a troller. The ones i make got to be right around 3 onces After that they start to get sluggish.u put that slugg in the ass an there's no way its pullin it.Unless u got some good surf. Then u probably got wind in ur face which would make the tailweighted plug a good choice as it would cast well an hold well through a wave.

George had x-rays of all the atoms in Plastic and wood and one of the wood ones showed the weight. There still remains the "fat" Atom in wood that Stan knew of but did not see any at pf06.

capesams 02-15-2006 06:40 AM

I had it in a zip lock bag sitting on the chair under the display cases.
