World baseball classic

Anyone interested in it ???
I am, with football over,It's not like there's anything elso in sports good on now!!! And the start of baseball again means the fishing season is just around the corner !!!!
I've noticed the tv commercials have Derek Jeter as the face of the USA team!
Would that make some Red Sox fans here Derek Jeter fans, atleast for the classic since most of us are Americans !!!
I see David Ortiz is the face of the Dominican team also !

I wonder if someone can explain something that's always puzzled me.

Why does Puerto Rico get to compete as a separate "country" in international competitions? And how does someone acquire Puerto Rican "citizenship"?

I mean---wasn't A-Rod born in New York? Has he made up his mind yet which team he's playing for

...and Mike Piazza is playing for Italy.
It's the only way they could
fill up all the teams.

And a good half of the Italian Olympic hockey team were Americans--lots of 'em were named Tony, John, Bob and so on. Only way amateurs can get to play, now, I 'spose

Mike Eruzione would have to play for Team Italia these days, it seems.
