Wireless modom

How do I know if someone is tapping into my modem and how do I prevent it?
Wondering.

Best advise: Read manual for accurate instructions.

If you have linksys router:

1) type ====>http://192.168.1.1
2) username===>leave empty
password====>admin
3)click enable Web encryption
then edit Web settings to your desired configuration.

PM me if you have linksys and I'll try to walk thru with you offline

No router, just DSL modem

You usually need to be plugged directly into the router and type in its IP address into an explorer window, usually 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1, then type in the username and password, this is brand specific if you have never entered a password. Then navigate to the security menu and enable WEP, I also recommend hiding the SSID. You really need a manual before you start this, there are a lot of little differences between brands. I've set up 20 or so wireless routers and most brands are really easy one you get used to the interface. PM me if you need any help.

put a 10 digit key into #1, just don't forget it. then when you go to the PC on wireless, you will have to enter the key to connect. FYI most routers will reboot after you enter a key so don't freak out, it will come back up. your wired connection will work without a key
