Proposed dates for 1st 2 legs of S-B C&R Tourney!

OK - mark yer calendars now! How are these for the first 2 dates for the 4 leg tourney?

June 8th - Rhode Island - definite & solid date

July 13th (or 20th - better tides?) - Mass/Cape Cod

For those that are new to the site - the 4 leg tourney is where we all get together to char some meat & seafood, chany fish songs, and try to catch some fish. We had a ball last year even with luke-warm participation from the fish. This year will be better...

STEVE IN MASS 04-03-2002 10:15 AM

WOW - both dates are good for me for a change.....see ya there!!! :) :) :) :)

chris L 04-03-2002 11:12 AM

8 june is good for me but July 13th Im not sure of yet . Not that that should matter ! If I can Ill make it !

Fisherwoman 04-03-2002 11:35 AM

I'll put it on the calender, if we don't have any clients, WERE IN!!!!!

Rich R 04-03-2002 11:52 AM

Looks good by me. I'll try to drag along some of the CT guys like John S and Marc Z. Both fine anglers as well as good people.

Saltheart 04-03-2002 12:01 PM

Both sound like very fishy dates. moons are good. timing is good.

HESH2 04-03-2002 12:15 PM

DATES SOUND GOOD TO ME,COUNT ME IN.

Spare Spool 04-03-2002 12:38 PM

Hey John, generally how do these things work? The 8th is the start of my week long vacation in Orleans , so just wondering about the specifics so I can figure out whether I can make it. Thanks in advance.

GBOUTDOORS 04-03-2002 01:30 PM

Sounds good to me but I also would like to know how they work? Do we all get together and fish the same area? Do they start in the morning and end the next morning? I know just show up and have fun:smash:

OK

STEVE IN MASS 04-03-2002 03:07 PM

Guys...the two that I have been to went like this....

John and others decide on a meeting spot....in Mass last year it was the Scusset parking lot, and in Rhody it was Don M's shop.....We eat food, bs for awhile...maybe 2-3 hours....then a few guys leave for other commitments or whatever....5-10 others get together and go to a particular spot, (that is hemmed and hawed about at the eats thing)....;)....others go there own way with one or two other guys...

It's pretty much laid back....meet up, eat and talk, and then do what you want.....and a lot of fun....:)

June 8th I have my cousin's wedding... of course, there is no weekend in June that isn't already planned out. Every year I swear I'll make no plans and every year the summer seems to get busier. June 15 my dad's coming up. That's actually cool, he's coming up to fish. June 22... ohhh, here's a fun one... my wife's girls weekend. That made Boston this year. Lucky me. I was informed I'd have the kid that whole weekend. Tell me that isn't the weekend of the MSBA boat tourney... I'll figure out something 'cause I'm fishing that.

July 13th sounds pretty good... especially since July 13th (friday the 13th) of last year was the day I caught my biggest striper to date. 13 must be my lucky number in the eyes of the fish gods.

TheSpecialist 04-03-2002 04:22 PM

I'm in by hook or by crook.

Saltheart 04-03-2002 06:51 PM

Cutty Hunk is the next weekend. I'm OK but that might cause domestic disputes for some who are "Married With Children"! :)

jenty 04-04-2002 05:39 AM

Sounds good to me! :D

johnny

TheSpecialist 04-04-2002 10:41 AM

jenty 04-04-2002 11:28 PM

I'm gonna bump this thread up so all the new people can see...

Remember, June 8th - 1st Rhody Leg of S-B Shore Tourney

chris L 05-08-2002 07:53 AM

Im not going to be able to comfortably fish on June 8 . So Ill pass till the 2nd leg hopefully !

Saltheart 05-08-2002 07:55 AM

Where we gathering June 8th?

BTW , the first leg is the best leg for the ......Strawberry Shortcake. :) The berries are in season.

Last year , with no fruit flying do to Sept 11 , berries were pretty scarce by the fourth leg.

I know it sounds like an unimportant fishing detail right now but come June 8th when your mouth is watering as you wait for a strawberry delight , it'll seem a lot more important then!! :)

JohnR 05-08-2002 08:11 AM

I'm thinking that we invade Weekapaug again. I know we definitely want to do so for the fall leg but perhaps if Don is willing to put up with us again in June ;) ...

mmmm - Strawberries (safer than Blueberries before a night out but not by much ;) )

Steve K 05-08-2002 08:19 AM

June 8 sounds good to me.

Fish_Eye 05-08-2002 08:41 AM

Somebody say blooberries?

saltydog 05-08-2002 04:01 PM

"GOOD LUCK GOOD FISHIN"

Scotch Bonnet 05-08-2002 04:12 PM

Steamers?

I'm in for that leg. I will bring a load of steamers if somebody has one of those propane cookers to boil the large pot. These are restaurant qaulity, no sand, yum,yum clams. Everyone will want to avoid the Charlestown Breachway as there is never any fish there the weekend of June 8th.....

Saltheart 05-08-2002 09:00 PM

Oh Yeah! Steamers sound good Scotch. You bring em , we'll figure a way to cook them. These people eat big so bring lots! :)

GBOUTDOORS 05-08-2002 10:02 PM

I have a one burner gas cooker and will bring it for some clams:D :D

Scotch Bonnet 05-08-2002 10:10 PM

My next door neighbor runs a big shellfish co. at the Point. Let me know how many pounds and I'll bring em. It breaks my heart but she wont let me pay for them either:( Oh yeah, I'll bring the garlic butta too...........I'm thinking 40 lbs (60 lbs??)

mar t 05-08-2002 10:33 PM

Don M 05-09-2002 09:55 AM
