Track Lighting Question

Need a little help here...

I'm doing over a room and the old owners had track lighting installed. It was to shine on a trophy case and it's the only lighting in the room. It has 2 lights which look like giant fish-eyes, round globes with small "flood lights"

Can I replace them with any track lighting heads or are there particular ones I need to get. These are straight from the 70's and I'd like to upgrade to either those halogen ones or some smaller heads. I'd also like to add 2 lights to it.

Any help appreciated!

Thanks!

You need to get heads that fit the track. Easiest way to do that is to either replace everything or buy heads from the same manufacturer.

Lose the track lighting and get an estimate to put in recessed cans, so you can light the room properly. You will want remodel type, and probably IC, insullated so can go against insullation. That and crown moulding can really upgrade a room!

NIght,

I thought about that as most of the house has the recessed lighting but something tells me my son will want that room to store trophy's etc. That is what the original owner had, car tropheys and the recessed focused on the case. It's a HUGE built in glass shelved trophy case...pretty nice but takes up room. In order to get rid of that, we're talking COMPLETE remodel....right now, it's paint and "spruce up" until I get real bored and tear it all out :behead:

Bob, we are having a 9' curved monorail halogen system installed in our den also. Its a very nice way to go, and the thin monorail is barely noticed

How about low voltage lights inside the case?

if you dont already know

the track itself is where the light grounds

itself....

Yes, assuming the lights are wired into a standard box you should be able to replace it with just about any track lighting kit. Just make sure you check to ensure the ground works.

Thanks for the info!

Night, that's not a half bad idea! I wonder how difficult that might be....would have to crawl upstairs and look into that one! Thansk!

:thanks:
