keyboard not working when plugged in
 

i'm on an older computer typing this, but i was recently grounded for an hour or so, and the keyboard on the computer was taken off, now, when i try plugging it back in, it won't type, i mean, it blinks the lights when i start the computer up, and then i try typeing and it WON'T DO ANYTHING!! i have no idea why this won't work..we have tried 2 different keyboards, so i don't know whats going on..
