HT metallic (overwrap?)

I just finished wrapping the underwraps on a 1201M in HT metallic maroon (A) w/ gold inlay bands. It looks great. I would like to overwrap the guides with the maroon HT metallic (A) thread. Has anybody done this? I see by the Gudebrod chart that the HT (A) is actualy rated by 1 lb.more ( 3.6to2.6 ) stronger than the regular nylon (A) thread. Also when you incapsulate the wraps with epoxy, isn't the epoxy bonding the whole guide and wrap?

Metallic thread will not hold as an overwrap. Climbing the guide foot you will have to burnish it. Most likely it will take the color off in that area.

Do a layer of nylon 1st and then go over it with the metallic.

metallic thread does not absorb epoxy. nylon thread does.

Most often people will wrap with A nylon then put a coat of finish on and then put the color layer HT Metallic over the nylon. Then finish the whole guide.
