flies w/spinning gear for sripes?

hi all, when out fishing i always see something different, i had gone to a mass. beach in early spring and saw a fly fisher, talked for awhile and got to thinking? how can i use a fly with spinning gear? well i had found a box of flies on the beach the year before and some was still good ,sooo i made a leader and used a trolling sinker and voila! caught some decent size fish with this setup. i also used a egg dowel for top water. anybody else use this in the spring?

I use a weighted fly - the bucktail jig!;)

One thing I plan to try is a wooden egg float with a big old herring fly tossed out into that Rip at Stone Bridge.

.......What's the worst that can happen?

SJ - you can use a dowel, wooden egg, and I once saw on a presentation from Steven Papows that if you are fishing an outgoing drift, cut out dollar sized plastic from a 2 litre soda bottle and attach them up the line a little. These "cupped" pieces of plastic will catch water and carry the fly out in the drift and allow you to use the fly... (I really think the wooden egg is the best ;) )

youre right the egg is best, and u can get them in any size for weight. i also paint them white so i can see them might try florescent on one? for the nite time.

One of the most successful fisherman I've met uses a sparse bucktail tied on about two feet in front of a swimming lure - like a Rapala or a Rebel.
