Best Live Bait Hook

In your experience, what is the best hook to use with a live mackeral?

I have had good luck with a 7/0 Gamakatsu J hook. I put it through the top jaw (nose) of the bait. I have also had good look with a large treble hook placed right behind the dorsal fin. Although the treble usually gut hooks. Surprisingly I have had very few gut hooks using a J hook.

I use a 7/0 Gami right thru the top of the eye sockets. when the fish takes open bail and count to 10 then slam

8/0 gami octopus circle. good for about three fish, then re-snell a new one. circle hooks gotta be big enough to go arround your thumb knuckle. thats about a 50's lip size +or-

strait up thru the pallet. mouth open, no ten count, just lift slow. if she's on shes on.
