I don't see why not. I live out of state and use that area every year and contribute to the local economy.

i believe this proposed complex would be replacing the old carasel area just before the state beach heading the WH from weekapaug. also, if left as is, it may be planting right on top of a crmc ROW. i think the whole carasel property has already been sold to a developer, but i am not positive.

I was going to post this link but was trying to get more info before doing so :) - any discussion from those more familiar with it? Everything I've seen so far (which has not been much) points to it being baaaaddddd for us...

Hope they get enough petitions. Fish that general area about once a year.

That pettition is so one sided.
If any thing, with the up graded ISDS the water will be much cleaner than with the current system. most likely dumping the same amout of waste water if not more. The hieght may be a little excesive but the parking in the fall is a none issue. Most of the condo or time share owner will only be there in July and August, most of the heavy fishing done on that strech is Sept. Oct. when there is parking out the wazzu.

I'll be honest with you. These RISC folks bother me. They are just mad because it blocks their view. I've been told they started as of a lot of out of towners (Conn and NY) who bought up much of RI vacation property and want control of the RI shoreline. ETC. They have since expanded their group to include Rhode Islanders. I don't like what has happened to access in Conneticut and don't want to see it happen in RI. We are working had to preserve our access on many different fronts.
I can agree with them on some of their issues like LNG but watch out when it comes to access. Shoreline people generally don't want to share it.
They also want to be able to vote in two states. RI being one of them????????????

I don't want to come across like a jerk but I think before any one fills out the pettition they should do a little research before hand.
It may turn out this thing will work out to be better for fishing and the beach.
