Met Dave F at the show what a gentleman.
We went over our philosophy's on rods over an over an over. He's a good man.Alot of rod knowledge for a young fellow. If I was in his area I would certainly lok him up for my custom work. I have to say after handling the so called do it all rod. If i where to thro 2 oz with that for any good period of time it would be goin back to lami in two pieces.Nice for rod for lighter stuff bombers red fins sluggo's but I would turn it into a noodle in a yrs' fishin wit heavier stuff. It basically is the GSB 108 1M In the live bait rod package.I don't care what they call it. On a interesting note the Surfcaster had a Kennedy Fisher 10 fter rapped conventional for 290.The gent at the show said it was a lami but I showed him how he was wrong.I didn't really need it as most my conventional needs are filled. But for a Great lure throwing Rod tough to beat the Fisher's.I think he said he's gotta change the price on it.:err: |
NIB, Dave is a wealth of rodbuilding knowledge for sure! I owe much of what I know on the subject to him. But, as is so often the case, I have to disagree with you on your review of that rod. :zup:

NIB, it was a pleasure talking to you as well. thank you for the kind comments. it was also a pleasure seeing many others from the board that stopped by. too many to list.
toby, thanks for the comments too. as i told NIB and a few others at the show this past weekend, the glb1081mh and the gsb1081m are exactly the same blank. they are just listed under 2 areas in the lamiglas catalog. the lamiglas rep told me this after i was comparing the 2 side by side. the live bait "version" is more for just that, live bait fishing where you can use a heavier weight, but you are not physically casting it. the sb "version" is designed for just what many do, casting. thus, the slightly (1/2 oz) lighter lure weighting. i would say that the lure rating is right on for the rod (1-3) and i take toby's input to show what the rod can really do. he's pushed it up to 4 oz and the rod kept up. nib, you could always take my fisher rod and try and bring it back in 2 pieces. let's see, top end, i'd say 6 oz., and still loads a med sized eel great. what do you think, toby? you know my red/white/gold wrapped caster. |

U know at the surfcaster booth they had a fisher. They thought it was a lami.I bet they didn't sell it.It was a 10 fter wrapped conv. for 290.very similar to the one u have but a few inches bigger.
