7000CL Big Game
Well I finally got it. What are the knobs on the side for? One is numbered, one is not?
My wife bought me a Nautil 6500 for my b-day which is on the 18th. I asked her if she wanted to wrap it, she said, " no go ahead and set it up , and use it". |
Right side is to center spool and left side is to control spool's maximum roational speed.... Sweet reel!
|
Ok, thanks John I think I will go play with it.
|
I've had one for 5 years and never touched either one of those knobs. I had it cleaned recently and now when I cast it sounds kind of rough - any ideas on the problem?
|
What does it sound like??
|
brrrrrrrrrrr yip yip pluhhhhhhhhh burrrrrrrrrrr yip yip pluhhhhhh. had to do it sorry guys...:D :D :D
|
After I cleaned mine this year I noticed that when I pull line out against the drag that there is this clicking noise. Is that normal?
good luck with that reel Specialist, fine choice. |
Ok I played with it today only 2 backlashes, not bad for a first timer. The first one was bad, it was on the first cast, the line burnt my thumb and suprised me. I think I will pick it up quickly.

Yes alot of fun, I need some of those Storms.
|
Slip,
Mine has always done the same thing, clicking sound when the drag is being pulled out. Mike told me it's perfectly normal, and I haven't noticed anything "jerky" in the drag that corresponds with the sound. Definitely an excellent reel.... |
Thanks Chris :)
Bloo I totally agree with you |
John, I casted it about 20 times in my backyard tonight, and it sounded better with each cast. This reel has been sitting for the past 2 years due to "diaper duty", but this year it will be my primary boat real:D . I think I got the juices flowing in this reel again. Specialist, I had to stop a couple of casts from going into the tree tops - oooouch!!!!!:btu: :af:

exactly !!!!!!!!
It surprised you Bill ? Why would that be ? a spool of mono going X amount of revolutions at X speed is going to leave a mark now add braid and say good bye to you thumb prints . 1 tip if I may ? thumb the bell not the line ! the bell is the left side of the spool where you can see and touch the flange . Much much nicer to your finger . Not to take anything from Johns advice . leave the spinner home get used to the conventional . If you have a spinner with you , you are more apt to go to the spinner and not give the conv enough time . you do have manual dexterity so it will come to you quick enough . also remember backlashes are good in practice , they help you to get good at getting them unlashed in a hurry . everything happens for a reason , we just may never know why ! Bill mine is the 22nd ! nice reel I think I might have one of them there big games . Mine does too ! exactly now add a nice rod to that reel and wildeyes . exactly !!!!! |
Bill - one thing I woud add is that you should stick with a heavier mono until you get used to it. It's a lot easier to pick out "professionsla overrun" with mono as you get used to it than braid would be...
|
yes John ! I forgot that Bill thats is a good point . Mono !! I use ande 20# and in the ditch 30# cause it is the easiest to pick out over runs due to its memory and size .
|
Big Game Green is better - less memory and better abrasion ;)
|
Chris Happy Birthday, I have a nice rod for that reel, made by Mike Thomas. I am going to practice evryday with it, after work as long as the weather is nice. I found some Storms today at a place up this way. I am going to the cape sat or sun.
John got 25lb Big Game and it is staying there for awhile. |
