casting egg pic

been looking for a pic of a casting egg, with the nail in it.

visualize an egg with its pointy side up. the nail is just below the center point facing up at 45 degrees.

Here's a couple of screw eye eggs, the hook hanger is a piece of stainless wire stuck in a drill hole....

NIB 04-14-2006 07:34 AM

Ok, I give.???
What does the nail do.?

RIROCKHOUND 04-14-2006 07:38 AM

Tony;
Hang the jig on it when you cast.. it falls off when it splashes... more aerio-dynamical (in my besy GWB voice)

the second spot we fished they do well with them... keeps the jig off the bottom....

next time you come up i will show you a very cool trick with one of those.

Skitterpop 04-14-2006 08:26 AM

Back Beach Jake made me one a few years ago.

Great for delivering light baits out into the surf or anywhere. Seaworms, clams, sandeels, teasers, small rubber to deadstick or twitch.

Egg is aerodynamic/concentrated /focussed weight.

ThrowingTimber 04-14-2006 09:10 AM

great for throwing general practioners at albies :btu:

I got spooled at Chatham once, using one of those and a redgill.

Unfortunately it turned out to be a seal.:zup:

Young Salt 04-14-2006 04:29 PM

got club? :smash:

steelhead 04-14-2006 04:48 PM

Tie a big L&L Special or Sure Thing on the end of that and toss it over a boulder field :-)

NIB 04-14-2006 06:26 PM

What came first the Fly or the Egg.
Please,Looks like a Mr.Pinhead starter kit.
I understand there are many ways to skin a cat.I don't care if every fifty ever landed came on a egg I would never throw one.
Just not my bag.
Real surfcasters don't throw eggs.
See ya later.I gotta go put a exlarge on the duplicator.
:tm:

Nebe 04-14-2006 07:36 PM

fine.. then i will not show you my secret trick :fishslap:

Backbeach Jake 04-14-2006 07:41 PM

You can show me, Mr. H!

Nebe 04-14-2006 07:56 PM

come on down.... bring some korkers and a stout 9 or 10 foot rod.

oh, and an egg or 2.. :soon:

Bill L 04-14-2006 07:58 PM

Mr. Pinhead starter kit :hihi: I think the "broomstick rig" goes back to Jerry Sylvester days. Sometimes they want a jig in a place you'd hang up without one.

I throw little bitty Storms and such with it. But Deceivers would work better, I bet. After what I saw last Fall, I'm gonna tie some Krill flys. Lavender with an orange eye/gut spot.
