Fish box pumps
My fishbox has a fill pump and drain pump. The fill works fine, I can use it as a giant live bait well (and keep a couple 35# bass alive and happy...I know its wrong but it will keep a lot of fish alive) . The drain works OK and it has a plastic screen of sorts but from time to time scales make its way into the pump and it stops working until I take it off and clean it. I want to replace it with a maserating (sp) pump of some kind that can digest scales and small fish junk. Do you guys have any suggestions? I don't see anything in my west marine that fits the need.

I hate west marine.
yes you need a macerator in there. I'm surprised the fishbox didn't come with one. You should be able to find one that will accomadate you. Macerators are not cheap. |
I am also suprised it doesn't have a macerator already.
i don't have one, but from what I have heard these are pretty good: http://www.shurflo.com/pages/Marine/...macerator.html |
defender has everything you'd ever need for pumps

Mine has a pump that also can be switched to circulate... it works poor at best... I'm adding a bigger pump... a mecerator type.

Sandman I have two small fish boxes that drain but no pump and one very large box under deck that has no fill but a sealand 12v sanipump that can take solids up to 1/2". This came set up this way and it has never clogged. Boat U.S. had them in the catalog at 304.99:poke: but this has been a great pump. I have run it in the winter after freeze up and it had frooze but it still worked .

Jabsco makes a good macerator pump, they are usually used on heads, but should do the livewell just fine.
