Here's a pretty one, though I was underwhelmed when I swam it. Take off on an old Capt'n Bill. Happy Easter.

Off the lathe. I had pulled the spindle to replace the belt with a continuous synthetic one, and wanted to test the new set up out. Still some vibration to work on, but man the size of that spindle and the 80 year old tapered bronze babbit lined bearing was something to behold. Lu and Paul in particular would have appreciated the workmanship that went into that headstock.

Like they say 'They don't build them like they use too" glad you got a good one.:kewl:

Some day I will get over to see that old relic. Right out of Sutter's Mill :hihi:. I enjoy old school machines. Like Lu said they don't build them like they used to. Nice heavy castings make for nice machines. I run a 1962 Hardinge tool room lathe nightly and that sucker is as good as the day it was made. BTW nice plug George. Paul

Those Hardinge lathes were the best money could buy. I worked part time years ago boring gear blanks to +.0002 -.0001 and it was a snap!
Most of the older machine were solid!!!
