New FF

I got my new FF a Lowrance 107c. It came with a speed wheel, should I bother with it, and if I should, can it be installed near the transducer, or should it be further away from it?

Bill I have found that most of the wheels are way off anyway so I do not use them. Do you have a GPS unit if so use it for the speed not the wheel.
