A upgrade from 100 to 200 amps should run you about $2,000.00

Today we're at 60 :gf:

so what are you up grading to ? may as well go all the way
|
Probably 200, I don't think there's that much of a cost difference to do anything that much lower.
Although we don't need that much more juice. I'm sure there are some circuits that could be spread out, and I'd like to add a few external circuits with GFCI breakers for the deck and soon-to-be water feature... -spence |
I am up grading from 100 to 200 amps and splitting a few that are over loaded. I can't make coffee and toast at the same time. I also have some breakers that are 2 in 1 and always trip. Good luck, I have a friend and I am paying him 200 plus parts. He isn't lic. in RI though

Over 1/2 of our box are splits!
Last fall a neighbor, who's an elec teacher quoted about 1200 to go to 150. Could be a decent price...I've not yet got other quotes as we killed the project until the new year. -spence |
Sounds like a good price to me, but get other prices just to keep him honest

But to be honest...I don't trust anyone. No offence to the contractors out there :hee: -spence |
Your quote of $ 1500.00 seems very fair , but he is robbing himself as the material for a 150 A service actually costs more than the stock for a 200 as it is pretty uncommon to go with 150 A You might want to make sure who is doing the work has at least liability insurance, pulling a permit is usually a good idea
|
I wouldn't do it any other way...
The person in question is insured, licensed and a teacher at a local tech school. It's possible that material cost has gone up in the last year... I wouldn't do it without a permit...actually would the elec company do the work on their end without one? -spence |
The Electric Co. doesn't need a permit,A permit is for only for work inside your home.
