This the reelAttachment 15266
I will use for everyting from Stripers to Scup, if I get lucky some flat fish. I would like to stay under $150.00. I was told Diawa Sealine X is the way to go. Any other suggestions? |

I have considered an Inshore casting rod from BPS or Cabelas, but would rather spend at a local shop. Is there something comparable to these rods in a local shop that I can inquire about? Thanks.

Boat/Shore?
Check out the Shimano Compre series... love em and under 100 clams... |
I would use for mostly shore fishing. I dont need to cast 100yds(b/c/ I cant:wall: ). I will check out the shimano right now on line. Thanks bud.

Real nice looking reel, but if I tried using one of those I would look like this:-)
|
Why would that reel be any worse for backlashes than any other 6500 size ABU?

rods
The Fenwick Salt Sticks are nice -- I picked up a 7' baitcasting rod ffor $100 last year and it works well for me. I really like it.

Daiwa sealine X ten footer. Best rod for the money. ferrule doesn't even spin after hours of casting. Change the tiptop as many have had the ceramic ring fall out.
|
Not sure if he is still doing this but MikeCC was wrapping Batson's for less than $150 last fall.

You can get a great st. croix for around 120 and those are some great rods. I just bought 3 myself and one has the same reel as you. Can't wait to try it!
Good luck |

SluggoSlinger, what side of the reel is you handle on?
Also your PM's are full. |
What is the secret to using a Baitcaster Reel? Everytime I tried using one, I end up with Backlashes like you never seen before. Is there a certain way to set them up?

Wet the line before the first cast.
|
Hey thanx NIB, you explained that really good. I made a print of your directions so I won't forget them.
As you Striprman, what do you mean,"wet line before 1st cast"? What should I do pi$$ on it? |
With some mono's if u don't wet them they will give u a burn on the cast.never really bothered me much.I guess if u have delicate hands it might.U can also get around this by lightly thumby the side of the spool instead of the line itself.
