Large Bluefish

in the 20-24 " range in the upper bay yesterday evening before dusk.
Powerful fish, nice change from the schoolies.
Why are they here so early ?

No I mean they are following the bait up here. Thanks for the report though...bet they felt mighty good RST!

Fishpart 05-14-2006 02:42 PM

Couple years ago I got ruined my first sotfbait of the season around this week. I expected the colder weather would keep them out sooner, guess they heard the resturant was open for business..........

Redsoxticket 05-14-2006 02:51 PM

I didn't see any bait last nite but the previuos day there were probably thousands of 2-4" silver/green minnows. The wind was strong so maybe the bait were low in the water column.

caught a couple of blues last night....

Goose 05-14-2006 05:27 PM

Not sure where your fishing but ever since I can remember the 12th-13th they move into surf range in Buzzards bay. Also, the first run of blues usualy have good size to them going 5-7# average, some bigger(10+) then the numbers drop.

Skitterpop 05-14-2006 06:06 PM

Cotuit, 8 to 10 pounders on surface plugs Sat.

Why now? bait, water temp.one of the never ending questions and only they can tell us why!!

:ss: :ss: One sure thing, they get the masses out fishing so it is good for business :grins: :grins: :: , but expect some more company in all the "normal" spots :uhoh:
