boating registration question
Hello All , I am from Plymouth , I have fished all my life both fresh and salt water . I own a 11.5 ' Coleman crawdad and i have owed it for about 15 years and never registered it . My question is , I was told since i have put a trolling motor on the boat i need to register this pay sale tax . I don't even have a bill of sale for it ?? I always thought that you only had to register a boat if it had a gas engine or was over a certain length . If any one knows please let me know . Also when they made this change .

A bill of sale is easy to get and I don't believe you need a title for it since it is under 14'. not sure though. It should be easy.

bill of sale
if you have owned it that long they dont require that you have one
when you go to get it registered.. the trolling motor is still a motor under the law...so get it registered. |
I just registered a trailer I've had for a few years. They made me pay interest on the sales tax back to the purchase date. So tell them you just bought it. You won't need a title because it's under 14 feet.

You will need to show proof of sales tax that you can pay online...
http://www.dor.state.ma.us/Personal/st_6.htm They won't even talk to you unless you have that form... If your a commercial Striper fisherman your exempt but you still need the ST-6 form saying that... |
tHEY DON'T CALL IT TAX-A-CHUSETTS FOR NOTHING!!!!!!

I will be get a bill of sale and pay my taxes , ouch . I do not want to be caught in a unregistered boat . I would be paying for that for years . Does anyone know what the fines would be ????
