1266/2 as a canal rod

I'm thinking of having an allstar 1266/2 wrapped as a spinner for the canal. I'm looking for something that would throw jigs to 4-4.5 oz and some heavier open beach fishing. Any opinions and insights would be appreciated.

I have been doing some reviewing of old posts on rods as I have been thinking about getting a new rod for jigging the canal. I am looking for a one piece around 10 feet for conventional myself. I did just happen to read someones post whoe quoted that blank/rod you mentioned as a 'nice all around'. I also talked to Mike over at M& D's and may just go for one his 'canal speicals' which is a 10' Lamiglas blank. I think the number was sb 121 3m but not sure as I got too many rod blank numbers buzzing around my head right now. Good luck in your search.

I do not have any experience with the 1266/2 but I do have that "canal special" cut down to 9' and I love it for jigging in the canal.

Its a good all around rod you could use for the canal. Smokey uses that one. Its rated to 5 OZ but I don't think he goes over 4.
