Unexpected catch

Caught a 32" cod on a 7.5" rigged bubble gum sluggo in the surf tonight. Couldn't have been in more than 4' feet of water. Really surprised me when I saw what it was. I've caught cod from shore before but always in deeper water and on slower moving offerings, storm shads bounced along the bottom. Anyone else ever get a cod on a sluggo?

thats awsome.
ive got em on curl tails and crippled herring dragged along the bottom...but thats it, and ALOT deeper than 4ft.

Not on a Sluggo but got one about 8 pounds on a Clouser minnow and my Flyrod at a creek opening in Sandwich a few years back while fishing for December holdovers.

Had the same thing happen to me at the same spot, Josh. About two years ago. Was dark and surprised the ___ outta me too!
