They're getting bigger. 44 pounds on a Boga at time of catch. Probably 42 or so when it gets officially weighed in shortly.

For those who recognize the spot in the photo, the spot is not the spot it was caught and the photo was taken 12 hours later. Go get 'em! Big bass are out there.

The Ironman with his 44:

Why doesn't Mike ever smile? You'd think with all these big fish he'd be more happy.

Pete_G 05-28-2006 01:52 PM

I'll try and remember to yell out "smile!" next time. :hee:

Skitterpop 05-28-2006 02:06 PM

He is sternly and quietly very happy and proud....

Nice bass IMike :claps:

Ok....what kind of plug did he catch it on? Looks like a baby blue Tattoo or herring pattern.

he probly doesnt smile cause hes a badass fisherman

Pete_G 05-28-2006 05:20 PM

He's usually not smiling because he's working so hard to keep that fish in the air while I snap pictures.

tattoobob 05-28-2006 06:33 PM

Pete was that caught in the daytime? Nice fish.

seabass 05-28-2006 06:39 PM

Very nice fish! congrats.

libassboy 05-28-2006 08:24 PM

Tatto junior swimmer in herring...one of my absolute favorites.:hihi:
Nice fish Mike.

shadow 05-28-2006 10:11 PM

nice fish mike, they always look as big as him.it would be hard to smile lifting 44 # with one arm while in the surf.I'am sure he smiled after he got her up on the rocks.

bluzjamer 05-28-2006 10:54 PM

Holy Van Stahl!!!!

Goose 05-29-2006 07:32 AM

Wicked nice bass, congrat's

tlapinski 05-29-2006 07:40 AM

In the close up shot, it looks more like a beachmaster danny in herring than a Tattoo to me. I thought Tat swimmer in the first shot, but I would say it's a BM danny in the 2nd picture. It doesn't mean that is what he caught it on though...

libassboy 05-29-2006 09:51 AM

Tlap...looking at it more i agree, tricky.:nopain:

afterhours 05-29-2006 09:55 AM

shadow 05-29-2006 10:45 AM

Skitterpop 05-29-2006 11:26 AM

CAL 05-29-2006 11:40 AM

Good question? Someone should start a thread on that question.;) :chatter:

Diamond Tackle 06-20-2006 11:24 AM

Nice fish Mike. Maybe hes not smiling cause the minute it took to take that pic he could probably have nailed another one.:musc:
That Herring is one of my favorite colors.

BAITfishing 06-20-2006 02:31 PM

Hmmm,

I know of another 44lb fish caught that same day up the river on live bunker...
Twins?
;)

Pt.JudeJoe 06-20-2006 06:11 PM

I know of that fish too ,the guy that caught it told me how he gaffed it in the right side in the belly because he was alone in his boat .That would have made a nice wall mount if not for that.

Pete_G 06-20-2006 06:42 PM

Just a stone's throw away from where Mike got his, the Toilet Bowl coughed up an almost unhealthy looking 43" bass a few days later as well. Serious girth, a lot like Mike's which was about a pound an inch. It was released back into the suds so no weight, but it was big. It was a good week for big fish for those who were out fishing for them. :kewl:
