Striper Talk Striped Bass Fishing, Surfcasting, Boating

Woke up at 5am feeling like s#!t:yak: so slept in til 7:30 thinking about skipping the hole day but a buddy called and was going so...boat was all loaded up anyway...detour on the way.....then grampa doing 25mph(no offense anyone), more construction again, not shaping up to be good am. Ramp to myself :hihi: and out into the chop, no birds or fish to be found so out for some macks. Put a dozen in the live well after bouncing around a bit. And no one else out there either. Rigged up a mack and bang! Nice 26" fish. Hurrying to rig up another rod I clipped a mono leader and hook onto a big Spro swivel. Doubled up on 27" fish, one on each rod. Finally got a couple keepers. Then.... a BIG fish on the swivel rod. Almost to the boat and......gone. Hmmm must have slipped the hook? Put the rod down and fish the other for a bit...go back to it to rig another mack and no leeder, no hook! Swivel is completely straightened out! Must have been a really big fish. Teach me to hurry!:fishslap: It was a good day out there though. Its amazing watching a 20" striper try to swallow a 12" mackeral. Avoided the weekend and holiday crowd and plenty of fish.
