The amelia eirheart dam is behind what I think is the assembly square mall in everett off of rt 16 If you call fishing finatics tackle shof they will give you the low down and good directions the place is loaded there are tons of holdover fish I had keeper size fish in late march last year .

What do you fish in there IRL? I know the area, it's just up river from the Charlestown power plant, but I always saw people using some really light gear in there, almost fresh water type.

AMELIA AERHEART DAM

I use my 7' st croix w 10lb test in there unless I'm using live herring. rip baits, small plastics like slugo's are great

Cape Ann

Bigswell , I just found your posting on CA, I was up visiting my mother ( I lived in Rkpt for 15 years) last weekend and didn't even bother with the ocean front, my regular spots were andrews and cathedrel, but I took a run over to the essex side of wingersheek with no luck but the back of Cranes put up 6 fish none larger than 22 in.all on Conomo clousers.
Other areas to try are the Danvers river along rt 35/water st
the stone pier area in west gloucesta and the marina area behind AGH. I'll be back up after Memorial day maybe we can get together and wet a line. Long beach and Cape Hedge are calling me.
Good luck Jim O

BIGSWELL 05-02-2002 04:20 PM

Jim, funny you should say Long Beach....that is my beach. I live only 150 yds from the sand.....ha ha ha. I think I will hit Andrews tomorrow morning just for fun and wet my line. A few guys have been over the river behind the candy store with their flyrods but not yielding many fish.

Andrews is great but I stay away on the weekends from there. Wayyyyyy too crowded for my taste. I creep in on Mondays and have it to myself.

Feel free to drop me a message, Id be glad to hook up with you this season.

pigeon cove

what about pigeon cove ?
I knock em' dead ther in the mid summer
If you can deal with the million harbor polok that are there

BIGSWELL 05-02-2002 05:23 PM

The cove is known for holding large bass cruising around the local fleet at their moorings. The immediate coastline north to Andrews Point and Halibut Point are great as they have some good stucture for the bass. Heading South towards granite pier as not bad but there is tons of lobster gear in close.

North Shore

BIGSWELL,

I'm originally from Gloucester. Here are a couple of early season spots you should try.

Manchester harbor at the railroad bridge downtown. That has alyays been a fair to good early season spot.

The old Coats Guard station Winter Island near the Salem Willows(nice structure).

The light house at Marblehead Neck and the shore line by the Corinthian Yacht club(if access is still available) This is a great eeling spot.

Lastly high tide at the Lead Mills bridge on the Salem Marblehead line(the old railroad bridge)

Hope this helps,
Don M
