BIG Mac Attack!
I like to fish with my fly rod. For the last 15 yrs it`s what I do almost exclusivly. But when a long time friend asked if I wanted to go live line macs in CC bay I jumped at the chance. We fished Mon and Wed from his boat. Just getting the macs was a rush, I hadn`t done that in so long. The fishing was phenominal, the best I`ve seen since my OLD days when I used to eel the Back Beachs for money. You couldn`t keep a mac in the water more than 1 minute. 2 guys in 2 days with a well full of macs we got 4 fish over 40# and 15 more over 30# and a whole bunch between 20 and 30#. Makes me want to buy a conventional and rig a live well in my Whaler. All fish released except for one 18# "eatin fish" the smallest one we got. I got pics on my digital, if I could only figure out how to download them. All fish were weighed on a certified scale and the best was 45#.

Fantastic, reading your post I could just see you guys out there wacking them.
The mackerals out this way, in the bay and around the point, have been holding for about 2 weeks now, alot longer than any of us thought they would. There's something about going out and catching some live bait, taking it off a hook and putting it on a bigger hook, and then letting them go up the food chain. I think it's called just having some plain old fun! |
sounds like FUN:btu:
