AfterHours Fatboy
Hey Gang,
I had a fantastic morning today. Fish were sittin in a small rip sipping small bait on the surface. I casted flies/metal/bucktail w/pork as well as sluggo's and several top water baits. I looked in the bag and picked out an AfterHours Fatboy. Casted it uptide of the rip and worked it slowly over the rocks. 1st cast resulted in a 24# bass. 5 minutes later I was rewarded with what I thought was a 30# plus cow. Another 10 casts and I hooked into a very large fish, fought her for 2 minutes and she was gone w/ my fatboy. So, I grab another Fatboy and the fun continued. The action was non-stop for nearly an hour. The tide went slack and the fish stopped eating. I cleaned up the mess in the boat and was ready to head for the dock, when I noticed some swirls on the surface. I made a few casts and as I drifted closer to the surface action, I see my Fatboy floating w/just its tip out of the water. I grabbed my net and scooped up my lucky plug. I could not beleive that bass that ate my plug an hour ago somehow dislodged the hooks. I thought my line had broken, however my duolock snap had broken at the eye. Thank you AfterHours for making a great plug that catches fish floats to the surface whne broken off. I weighed the fish in @ Quaker Lane B&T this am, she was only 27.50#s. I will post a picture as soon as I finish my scotch and water. |
Scare 'em up this way please.
Try breakaway #80 clips, they don't open. |

Nice fish, were you using the lucky Abu?
|
Hey Jim,
I was using a Shimano Calcutta 7000 te, the only one that comes w/left hand retrieve. I have caught a ton of fish on that lucky Abu, I have it on a 8ft med action St.Croix. If you want to go fishing, send me an email. I have the boat in a slip in Wickford and my spot is only 2 miles away. I do early am weekday trips 4-7am or evening runs as well. Same on the weekend. |
What color Fatboy? Just being nosey!:biglaugh:

fatboy
It is the mack green top/white belly. I think it is the way it sits and moves in a rip w/ just a slight lift in the rod tip. I can twitch it and work the whole rip w/ just the rod, very little reeling.
