Car/Truck to Buy

Well, I totalled my car today on the Mass Pike heading to a sales meeting. It was not too much fun doing my 360 degree spin out, and then ending up in the ditch in the woods. Thank God no one was hurt.

But the Toyota Camry is history. So, what to get now......

What would you get? I am thinking about a pickup truck, or perhaps another sedan.

I have only had good luck with Fords I have nothing bad to say about them and I have owned one for 25yrs. I now have a 04 Explorer and love it. Iwish they had the warantee the imports have but those are things you have to consider yourself

Another vote for the Tacoma. I've got an '04 Xtra cab 4x4. Very happy with it.

Tacoma 4x4 with a 4 cylinder and a 5 speed manual.

It'll go 300K miles without breaking a sweat, low maintenence (timing belt every 60 K, regular oil changes, and MAYBE a clutch at 150 K, unless you do a lot of shifting or aren't gentle on clutches). And you could probably squeeze out close to 25 mpg if you really tried.

I wouldn't get a 4 banger with an automatic. Then, go for the V-6 and live with the difference in mpgs.

My last 2 vehicles have been automatics. Call me crazy, but I really miss the stick. Except when I was commuting 150 miles a day in NY traffic :wall:

my pre-taco sand sled won't die.
charged the battery after it had sat for almost 8 months
started right up last night

now i just need a cat converter and totally replace the rear brakes.

If it were me I'd stick with Toyota. Love my Tundra, and the Tacomas are nice too.

Fiero

My '04 has the V6 with auto trans, 4x4. I drive into Boston from the So. Shore and get 21 mpg.:musc:

Likwid's Toyota is a pretty good testamony for their propensity for longevity.:hee:

TACOMA all the way

definately Tacoma.

I've been driving a Chevy Silverado for the last few years and love it. I get about 18-20 MPG and it's got all the room I could ask for (club cab). Very few mechanical problems in the 180,000 I've put on it so far.
