Where's a good

Where's a good sports memorabilia shop where I can get a Hank Aaron autographed photo appraised and possibly sell? Preferably in Central RI but will travel if reasonbly close.

Not sure of any around here, but i would'nt try selling to a dealer, you won't get much from them. Aaron signed photos are pretty common, check ebay and see what the going rate is, or sell it on Ebay, you'll get more from collecters than you will from dealers.

But i don't think Aaron signed photos bring in a heck of alot. But i could be wrong.

Keep it! I used to collect quite a bit of baseball memorabilia. The autograph market is more flooded than your back yard. No one will be too interested to lay out cash for it....only worth about $15.00 tops!

Thanks guys. I believe it was on espn that I heard aaron memorabilia is worth more now than ever. Last I checked ebay photos were getting $175-$275. I'll have to check again. What I have is a postcard type photo from like 33 years ago, it has some tack holes from hanging on my bedroom wall way back when. I used to write to baseball and football players when I was a kid and ask for signed photos.

My brother-in-law works for a memorabilia supplier. He said your best bet would be to put it on ebay starting around $140.00 and set a reserve for what you want for it.

Just did a quick search on Ebay and most Aaron autoed photos are going for around $20-40. Not a big ticket item i'm afraid. Lots of em out there.

I still have alot of autographed balls and stuff....dealers don't even want to look at them unless they are certified authentic. Its more of a personal item now.

Quaker Lane Tackle in North Kingston is a sports memorabilia dealer. Can't hurt to talk to them and wander around the shop for a while.

Baseball Cards

and other stuff used to be quite a bit of fun until they all started over producing and glutted the market.

Funny!:jester: I still got my cards from childhood......all mint too!:jump:

Skip N 06-26-2006 11:12 AM

I've got a zillion cards around here, mostly from growing up in the 80's and early 90's. Unfortunatly, cards kinda sucked in that era so most of mine suck! I dont collect anymore but i couldn't part with any of mine.

I have a bunch of game bats used by Ryan Klesko from is Atlanta days, things are awesome, all cracked and loaded with pine tar, name burned into the barrell. I was always a big fan of him. have one of his game worn Jerseys too. He's one big Mofo to fit into that thing!

But i dont buy anymore. Chit his way too $$ and i have other priorities.

BigFish 06-26-2006 11:27 AM

I would rather have some custom plugs than baseball cards any day!

Hey Larry. How about the value of an autographed baseball by the "Splendid Splinter" Ted Williams himself? I've got one that's @ 40 years old.:bl:

BigFish 06-26-2006 02:05 PM

On a vintage ball? Official American League ball? I bet that would have value if in good shape! Show it to me sometime!:heybaby:

BigBo 06-26-2006 02:33 PM

Yes, vintage ball. It was actually on one of his foul pop ups on close to one of his last games at Fenway. I kept the ball, then a few years later my brother and I attended T.W. Baseball camp in Lakeville. I brought the ball with me everyday hoping to get his autograph. I finally caught up to him and some other guy leaving the main office building. When I asked him for the autograph, he just about pushed me out of the way and mumbled something like, "I don't have time for that bull$hit." The guy with him leaned over and quietly whispered something to him. Ted grabbed the ball and said "Here ya go" and walked off.
I was so pissed, I wanted to bean him in the back of the head with the ball.
Anyways, I kept the ball. It was dirty to begin with and the autograph has grown a bit faded over the years, but it's the real deal. I know the prized balls are pristene and come with certs of authenticity. I've often thought of selling it, but figured it's not worth as much as those certified pieces. Therefore, I kept it.:gu:

BigFish 06-26-2006 05:51 PM

On the bright side Bob....though dead, you can still bean Ted Williams in the back of the head so all is not lost!:bl: :laughs: :bl2:
