remember 1954 was when the last one hit.
a 50 year cycle is apon us i'm afraid.
the weather pattern is similar to 54'

not trying to be an alarmist....
just an FYI alert so all of S-B will
be prepared (boat-wise) and have
their emergency supplies ready

don't put too much stock into the 25/50/100year cycles of hurricanes.
You can have 2 50year storms a week apart, and then not again for 100 years. It is all statistics, and can be manipulated however you see fit.

What does worry me is the fact that our region (So. New England) has not seen a 'real' hurricane since Carol in '54. Bob, gloria, Floyd were all dinks compared to Carol or '38. Because of this people living on the coast in 1991 for Bob may dismiss it if an Evac is ordered. If we get a serious hurricane, (i.e. 1938 or Carol), most of the houses on the barrier shorelines in Rhody will go away......

Well I do beleive that we'll get some intense ones forming.. the track all depends on the big steering Bermuda High....

He hasn't harassed me or the BN so I don't think we're gonna get crap out of the tropical low thats down south.

Current tracking has it passing well south of us but making it interesting for the boats returning from Bermuda.

The water just isn't warm enough for this system to be really explosive but it has formed up nicely over the last six hours. The real threat is to Eastern North Carolina with heavy rain, something this district simply doesn't need right now. The system is moving pretty fast and the front that is to it's west is now starting to migrate east and this should help keep the forming storm moving over the next thirty six hours.

Airport totaled 0.64 inches. This yields a monthly total of 8.91
inches and a two month total since may 1st 2006 of 21.39 inches.

This two month precipitation total is a record for any two
consecutive months in Boston. Official records have been kept
in Boston since 1872.

The previous may-June combination record was set may-June 1998 when
18.42 inches accumulated.

The previous record rainfall for any consecutive two month
combination occurred July-August 1955 when 21.37 inches of rain
accumulated... thanks mostly to tropical storm dianne August 18-19
1955 which dumped 11.94 inches.

More significant rainfall is expected through Sunday.

The 30 year normal annual rainfall in Boston is 42.53 inches.

June 2006 is currently the fourth wettest June on record.
May 2006 was the second wettest may on record with 12.48 inches.

Since you mentioned it, my company's email did mention 1 major hurricane hitting New England sometime this year. I don't know why but everytime before a major storm or hurricane is ready to hit the fishing is Phenomenal!

At least we can get some tight lines before the B-A-N-G.
