Just returned from 3 days and long nights on famed Cuttyhund Island. The accommadations, food , weather, friends and fishing were all excellent! Me and the #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^& had 32 bass with two in the low 30's. I brought back a 32 for the OTW contest. Alot of fish in the teens. Most of the damage was done with live eels and the black Sluggo on the southwest side of the island although I had 4 nice fish at a spot on the south side early monday a.m..Other members of our group(RISSA) had similar results. #^&#^&#^&#^& Geldard had a 30 as did Bob Moeller. All in all, we had a super time. The only downside was lack of sleep which is expected I guess. We've booked a trip for late Sept. and I'm going to buy the lightest pair of waders I can find!

It was a great time! I dont think we could have done any better than we did, I cant wait to go back. As Steve said , great friends and great accomidations made it a trip I will not forget soon, neither will my legs! they are sore today! Take Sluggos out there! Steve was mowing them on those! And of course the live eels were also good. I will post a couple of photos soon, each of us got a 30lb fish , cant ask for more than that...Have a fun trip out there and good luck!

Clogston--- Don't waste you time or effort with plugs. Bring only a few, maybe a couple of needles and a Redfin or bomber. Stick with live eels or weighted Sluggos. The guys in our group who stuck with "wood" did lousy.

Thanks steve. I'm pretty much planning on throwing some swimmers and top water at dawn and dust but eels and sluggos the rest of the time unless the wind is nasty, then I'll got to needles.

Good luck Clogston! If it's blow'in south or southwest, don't be afraid to find a lee. They'll be there.

Like Steve said, Dont waste your time with the wood, we had fish , acually our best fishing on the north side which is a lea, its an Island so you will always find a lea....Anyway, you will catch twice as many fish with sluggos or eels than with plugs plus, carrying that heavy plug bag all night isnt fun but thats my opinion...

how do you carry your rigged sluggos and how many do you bring with you to the water? i'll be there in sept.:hf1:

dredgey-- I rig them with two 7/0 Gamakastu octapus hooks with 3- 3/32oz. sluggo weights- one weght in the tail and on either side of the body up near the head hook. Bring at least 20. Good luck!

what kind of system do have for carrying them??

dredey- I carry them in a medium sized Aqua skins bag in the front pocket.

They fit in the large skinz belt bag too if you really want to travel light. I wrap 'em up in a zip lock to keep the hooks under control and keep different colors separate. I'm ready to get over there, this day a work can't end soon enough.

steve thanks. what'd you use a 9' or 10' rod??

I'd say 20 should cover you for a couple of nights provided there are no bluedogs. Dredey-- I prefer a 9 footer and use an 8 footer most of the time.
