MV Charters
I need either one boat big enough for ten guys or 2 smaller boats for Saturday 8/26. Anyone have good idea? I am the most serious fisherman of the group, everyone likes to fish, but some would be content just sitting and sipping beers. Anyone? Prefer out of Edgertown.

Call Coop at Cooper Gilkes bait and tackle. He can put what ever package you need together. He and his son are world class fishermen.

Give Machacha Charters a call - not b/c of that whole mako in the striper tourney thing, but b/c he is a good guy and good fisherman.
They run out of edgartown. They're a six-pack, but I bet they have a 2nd boat to work with. |
Go Native!
Consider the ride to Menemsha where the Vanderhoops charter out of. West Basin on the Lobsterville side to be more specific. Tomahawk Charters run by legendary Native American guide Buddy Vanderhoop will get you on the happy hunting grounds faster than just about any other boat. If he and his brother Chip are not already booked they are two of the best charter guys you could ever hope for. Buddy has put more clients into 50's and 60's than anyone else on the island...especially during the Derby.

Call Larry's Tackle Shop and ask for Steve.

Lookup Captain Chris Peters - he got that world record Mako a few years ago on the Oak Bluffs Monster Shark Tourney - he does pretty good in bass too...

charter info request
As you can see JohnnyC there is no shortage of great boats and even better guides on the Vineyard. If I didn't go with Coop I'd do the Vanderhoop charter and then Chris Peters. I just heard a couple fo weeks ago that Chris Peters is captaining a very large craft using his masters license for some very affluent people, so he may not be available for charters.
