Boat Boneyards

Not that there are a lot of good "Used Parts" with boats - anyone know of any New England boat junkyards?

Thansk,

John

Whatcha lookin for John?

zacs 07-10-2006 09:05 AM

there is a place next to NK post office called wickford marine consignment or something like that. Ton of junk in there. For the most part prices are too high in there, but occasionally you can find a bargain. Also, if you are looking for something hard to find you may have luck in there.
Anything specific you are looking for?

Ebay or craigslist is the best I can find.

Whatchya looking for, I go by lots of boat yards and can keep an eye out.

I'm looking for a Seastar front mount hydraulic steering cylinder for a Merc EFI 225. I can get new for <$350-400 but I'd go used for less

Fishpart 07-10-2006 11:47 AM

If you hav ethe old cylinder, there is a guy on Post Road that rebuilds cylinders..

Try calling the place in Wickford and see if they have one. Personally I'd spring for a new one, even if they have one it probably needs to be rebuilt after sitting around with the seals drying out for a couple of years.

I'm switching to a different type engine so the cylinders I have are the wrong type. I'd just prefer not to spring that coin for new right now and worry about that later...

I,m not posting on this one ==========:jump1:

Doesn't seem like the best place to save a few bucks, but maybe that's just me. I always like to buy new on stuff like that and besides my wife has a real good job so why skimp. :)
