Flourocarbon leader

I spent some time last night retying my terminal tackle and leader connections, as well as sharpening some hooks... drying waders and surf bags, cleaning reels (I spent most of tuesday night with waves going over my waders).

I've been using flourocarbon leader this season and I had read/heard that after some time in the sun and salt, flouro loses its "invisible in water" characteristics.

Does anyone have any hard and fast rules for how long they continue to use their leader, assuming of course, its still in good shape (no fraying, nicks, etc.)? And is this material then worse than mono as far as visibility goes?

I appreciate any thoughts or theories.

Tight lines.

This might be overly anal and wasteful of me (not to mention expensive) but I tend to change my flouro leader connections every trip, especially after fishing near rockpiles and rough bottom.

Hi Schoolie, how we doing? Headed south today to you know where, I hear things on the south side have heated up a bit so going down to find out for myself. If any of you are interested you know where I'll be. BC is coming down after work to meet me there. I am going down earlier and see if I can find a few pajamas.

As for the floro, I do beleive that extended sunlight does affect this line. I feel it still holds up better that mono, You can Kinda tell when it is starting to get iffy as it will almost turn an opak white color and not see thru like when you 1st tied it up. But I don't get too anal about changing it all the time either, as long as i am still catchin fish on it and its not chafed anywhere it stays on. Hope this helps.
