beaches

Depending on where you are some of the beaches on the capeare eroding and some are acreating (building). What you are now looking at with most beaches are the winter beaches . Lots of sand gets moved off shore during the winter due to storms and is stored in bars as the rough weather subsides the sand slowly moves back in during the summer and the beaches get larger. It usually takes a hell of a storm to move the sand offshore far enough that it does not come back. There was a great book on beach development and management around years ago but you can try Mass CZM has a bunch of info on beach development. It my help learn how to read the beach.
