Using Dead Eels ?

For many years, I saved my dead eels and either a) skinned them for eel skin plugs, b) rigged them, or c) used them as fertilizer in the spring. Well, once again, I have a bag of dead eels in my freezer, but the truth is- I just don't use dead eels.

I am very curious to know, how many of you use dead eels and what's your success rate compared to live eels ?

thanks

Wait for Cheferson to chime in, he has got a few good fish on dead eels. I freeze mine and rig them with two hooks, its a grizzly exercise but I have had some success with them.

Rigged eels are DEADLY!!! Back in the "old days" on the Back Beach the "sharpies" would throw riggies all night and out fish the live eels guys every time.

I just thaw them out, stretch them out till the vertebrate crack so there supple, and then fish them just like a live eel. Haven't had a chance to rig any dead eels yet so i cant compare though. Some of my largest fish have came from using dead eels.
