Navigating between Chatham and Monomy

Does anyone know if it is passable or do you have to go around Monomoy? Boat is small, 22' w/a cuddy.

it's the long way around only..unless your in a yak.

Is it a shorter trip from Ptown harbor to crab ledge?

ktugboat42 07-29-2006 01:33 PM

I've got a 22' Mako and I was out there just over a week ago. I could only get out when it was maybe 1 hour before high tide and that was going slow and the motor trimmed way up.

Ryder's cove landing in north chatham..get there early for parking.

If you want to fish east of Chatham, I agree /w Capesams, south of the point. Where are you leaving from? From Harwich, Bass River or Hyannis it's an easy run south of the point

I went through there at around noon yesterday with a 22' Mako. It was shallow but passable. Keep an eye out for some junk in the water around there. If it looks dark just avoid it.

as a warning, the fishing was really slow outside the southway yesterday. Most of the charter guys were running all over from one spot to another.

And how did you do Steve?

I've launched at Mill Road in Harwichport. I didn't think there was a public ramp with easier access to the outside. That sounds good. Next time I go I will give it a try. Thank you very much!

How is the navigation form there to the ocean? Fairly easy for someone new to the waters?

Keith,

they are around. The guy next to me got a 147#er 2 days ago and is out there today again. He gave me a nice hunk of loin. Look for the whales. I will probably go next week. BTW lots of SB out there crashing on the squid bars...large fish too, remember you are in the EEZ.

Was out at the hooter this AM. :humpty: Awesome action. TONS of bait. Big bones mostly with some blues but there have been some bft in the 50# class taken there in the mix. I should have weighed in one of those bones it had to go 10#...it is in my smoker as we speak.

See you in a few weeks.

I'm think of trailing down... If I run down to Harwich and go south of the point how far out to Crab Ledge? Is that the spot and could sombody PM me numbers?

run about 90 degrees off the point, 17 miles or so and you'll see everyone, 13750 43900
