Happy With Sealing Method!

Fished Cuttyhunk with Afterhours Thursday/Friday. While we were there fishing, Don hooked a lobster pot line in the water and pulled it up! Attached to the line was one of my Big Mouth Poppers that I lost when we were there 5 or 6 weeks ago! So after all that time in the water I was quite pleased to note a few things.....naturally the plug was going to be pretty worn....almost all the paint was gone, the nose of the plug was pretty beat, only one eye was missing and the belly grommet was still intact. Most impressive was the fact that there was no swelling of the wood and no cracking at all......boiled linseed oil and mineral spirits is great sealer!:btu:

that's what I thought too,
I am going to be adopted by Eskimos so I can legally take seals for consumption :hihi:

glad to hear your plug help up well larry, but what is with someones' trap being left in the water for 5-6 weeks at a time without being checked:huh: or was it just a line with no trap?
I hate when those pots are right up close to fishy waters.

It was more then likely a trap that washed in in a storm.....just got the line.

uH, Karl. I hear a 222 Hornet is a great way. Small hole and just a tinge of blood. Of course we are talking head shots here. Personally a winter seal hunting season from the beach only would be a great way to spend a chilly morning! Spotting scope set up on the dune ridge at Highland light or Marconi. Pfft! one shot one kill and another seal sinks slowly in the east. You can only dream.... sigh.........mmm.....:jump:

hmmm Flap.. I do believe it's my turn to buy breakfast.. say some January, or February Sunday AM, after an active daybreak of..uh.. the aforementioned ;)
