Awesome Picture! thanks

Nice picture, it's awesome when things you see while out fishing make catching fish secondary :kewl:
|
Woah!! thats soo cool!
|
i zoomed in on it
great detail... the amount of water rushing out of its mouth could fill a backyard pool. great photo! thanks

Jim, awesome pic. I took 100 pics of whales Yesterday but no tuna while fishing with Keith. Any luck? Any one else.

caption should read:
"Insert Seals Here" |
thats awsome... we were looking for those all day sunday. our water was nowhere near as calm. even though they said 2-3's, it was really 3's with the occasional 4-5.
makes for an interesting day in a 18ft boat. it was fine because they were far enough apart, but i sure would have liked your seas and sights. we did come across a relativly large dorsal fin with a smaller tail. I say basking shark... my g/f says jaws. :) where were you? |

At one point one appeared next to the boat and cut behind the boat right thru our trolling spread. A bird and green machine dragged over his back. I though we were going to hook up with the big one but luckly there was enough water rushing off the whales back that the lure was just washed off. Whales aside, IMO the bite is just not on out there. There are few around but for all the boats out there the number of fish caught was miniscule. If you go be there on the grounds by 4:30am, what little bite is there is over by 7:00am. For me to be there by 4:30 I need to leave at 2:00-2:30 and that just is not going to happen.:uhoh: |
The bite is early!!! Come early and leave early. You should have your rigs in the water by 4:45 or 5:00. I had 2 fish before 7 and was back at the dock by 8:30. One was about 85 lbs (boated) and the other was 150 lbs (lost leadering). I wanted to stay and play, but I had a wedding.:lm:

Great shot sandman.

Just finished reading about the whaling ship Essex out of Nantucket that was rammed by a sperm whale in 1820 and sunk. Can't imagine not being able to scram if a whale became rambunctious. Great pic, really. Would have like to have seen some seals flopping around in the mouth though.

Great picture.
Reminds me of my offshore lobstering days..every time we would see em the Capt. would yell.. $50.00 WHALE WATCHIN' FEE! :jester: |

There were as many whales on the SW corner Sunday as there were boats watching them...........and thats a whole lot.

How far off shore were you?? I like to just go see the whales !! I saw a few about 7 years ago about 10 miles off Chatam.
