help with tuna

going out for bluefin on friday/saturday

last year was able to land 50# class on 10 weight, what a struggle

We were on fish up to 150#'s last year and I think this year I'm going to give the van staal a little work out.

need some advice as far as what size swivels, leader, and lures.

We usually troll the daisies (2 long 2 short and the teaser/bait and switch/ fly in the middle)... Just going to replace the bait and switch with stand up spin....

should be fun

thanks for the help guys

tease em in then drop a black bart light tackle on their nose if you really wanna nail a tuna on spinning.

VIVA LA AVET SX!

I'm experimenting with Jerry Brown 60lb hollow braid and windons being castable (Need some limp-er 40lb fluro) for directly targeting tuna on light tackle casting. You will NEEEED ball bearing swivels (Spro etc. are good)

Apparently there's also a 40lb hollow braid that I haven't been able to successfully track down but planning on calling the company later on today.

Big effing poppers (Seagar etc.) work great around the hi fliers. Just back off for a min and cast on em.

thanks likwid

do you think 400-450 yrd of 50# braid is enough on the vs

fluro--60#
barrel swivels what #????

likwid 08-14-2006 08:52 AM

def not barrels.
go ball bearing.

200's should be fine and dandy. they need to be able to carry the load without binding.

lines sound fine.

be ready to chase the fish if its on the large side.
