hope everyone is haveing a good season , Here's the question with all the topwater action going on I find myself going to poppers as my first choice . But who makes the best poppers ?

Salty's fly and lure

Super Strike sinking, especially if your fishing from shore. Hab's Squid poppers are a close second. Don't forget about spooks. You need a tattoo pup, ah spookster, and a yozuri hydro pencil.:uhuh:

I like pencil poppers.Been one of my go to fall lures for yrs.they will take em when the bait is tiny.They also are a very good big fish lure.
If u look in the sponsers section u will see i just ordered 10 from MAC.I also just recently bought a bunch of 2 oz HABS pencils.can't wait to give em a whirl.To add to this I also make my own.I just gotta have em all.

Yea that little 2 3/4 super strike polaris sinker is a bad moma jama.
I swims real nice also.So u can go pop.pop swim.Very dangerous hold on tight.Green back.black back,chartruese,blue an white.

Ya poppers are cool.But the game of cat an mouse an the final aggresive strike of a wooden swimmer is still my favorite.
Then there is the thump of the jig take.Or the brutal hits on a NJ style rigged eel.then there is the subbed livelined pogie take when the line is flyin offa the spool U know its a big one.i could go on an on.
It's all good.

The Blue fish have finally made a run into shore and although they are small their fun on light gear . I like useing poppers but they rip them up pretty good so useing wood is out . Yo-Zuri 's are great but are expensive .

I throw wood most times, but off the shelf. Tsunami -school bus....
wood- couldn't name them all, I throw a wide range from guys on here, all a little different for different water.
Topwater gives me wood, I mean give me wood :rollem:
If you are goin for dem blues, cotton cordells, anything with a rattle really.

Why the Super Strike SINKING popper from the shore/beach? I'm looked to get educated!! :confused:

Peter, the SS popper casts a mile when you need to. Like NIB said it also swims when retrieved on the surface or under.

I like the ss floating poppers

I'm guessing you'd have to rip it along pretty good or "high stick" it to keep it at the surface.

With my thinking cap on I'll guess the sinker is heavier, hence the longer cast... I have the floating SS popper, but never thought to use the sinker.

Oh, and my SS swimmer weighs in at 2.3oz. so I'm figuring the popper should be fairly close. If the sinker is indeed heavier, the folks on the west coast of Ireland better watch out!!:grins:

If i'm not mistaken the SS floaters are made in only some of the smaller weights and have green eyes. The sinkers have black eyes.

OK, we can agree that the sinking poppers are heavier and we can get out farther.

How do we keep the sinking popper up on or close to the surface? The only thing I can think of at the moment would be to use a rather brisk retrieve.
