Trailer axle help

The trailer or my 13' whaler is in sad shape, the axle is a solid piece of rust and I'd like to replace it before it breaks. It has springs now but I have been thinking of a torsion axle. Anybody have any opinions? They seem like a cost effective and easy to install solution. The spring perches?? are rusted and I like the fact that the torsion axle just bolts to the frame. Total capacity should be about 1000lbs. Thanks!

I think that buy the time you spend the money on a new axel, it might actually be cheaper to get a new trailer. You can get a nice galvinized trailer for cheap money.I have been this route fixing the old trailer, eventually the frame was rotten after spending 500 on parts, new trailer for a 22' boat was under 1800.

I agree here. Buy a new trailer. I normally have to do so every 10 years.
One of these time I will get a quickload or what ever those aluminum drive ons are down in FL. A few guys have them up here and I would love it. They seem to last a lot longer than the ones we have up here.
