How long should i wait before painting.

Treated lumber usually has nasty stuff like arsnic in it. You don't want to turn that stuff :yak6:

they don't put arsenic in it anymore
they use a copper oxide or something so you cnnot use reg. galvy nails or hangers and can't use alluminum flashing either anymore.

I'd wait a week Dave, humidity is high in the summertime.

Ya CS, the old ones i replaced, albeit they were close to 30 yrs old, rotted on the ends and was thinkig about sealing the ends before paint.

Guys, There are lot of rumors regarding PT Lumber but you can use Hot dipped Galvanized nails and Hangers and Aluminum flashing with Thompsonized (Pressure Treated) Lumber. I stay away from ep galvinized in all applications but that has nothing to do with the reaction to PT. As far as rot goes there are two types of PT Ground contact PT when used on concrete or bare earth and Non Ground Contact PT for wood on wood members. If your concerned about Moisture content prior to use have the Lumber yard or HD put a moisture detector on it. Anywhere under 17% is suitable for applications where shrinkage is an important factor. If its over 17% store it in a well ventilated area with spacers seperating each piece for a couple weeks.
