You can tell the manufacturer paid for the reel by the way he lets it sit in the wash when he releases the fish...

Interesting to see how the do it elsewhere, the fish looked like a cross between a weakfish and a bluefish. Surprised he did not have an electric winch on that telephone pole he was using. They probably use the reels to get thier buggys out of the sand:)

Alvey's have so few moving parts you just give it a few cranks in the water and it's good to go.

Alvey's are winches, 1 to 1 ratio and 6 to 18 inch diameters. Here's a video of deep (250 fathoms) sea fishing with reels rigged like downriggers.
