How do *you* keep it simple and light?
<a variation of the stranded on an island hypothetical>

Theres a thread running about packing for cutty.
one comment got me thinking what is the core need for a day of shore fishing?

Sure, when you have your truck with you the sky's the limit.
But when your are hoofing it, taking the late ferry to the vinyard, fishing the length of the CCnational seashore. and sleeping standing up on the beach with pole in hand, you dont want to be encumbered by too much gear. At the same time, you dont want to be standing there wishing for something you left behind.

after hiking in the mountains for 10days I found out just how much extra crap I have been carrying around. by the end of the trek I couldnt believe how little of the essentials that were left in my pack were actually used.

When I look in my plugbag I see a bunch of crap that I either dont know how to use OR that I shouldnt even bother to use.
I dont want to carry what I shouldnt be using anyway.

So, panel of experts, here are the conditions:
1) WALKING ONLY - no rent-a-wreck.
2) NO HOTEL - you will sleep on the ferry or between casts.
3) NO SHERPA - remember you bring it you carry it. dont want to lose that rucksask behind a sanddune either.

What do you bring?
what plugs? what colors?
what spares? what rod and reel?
how do you carry it?
do you bring a raincoat? do you wear it or pack it?
if its packed, what is it packed in?
how about waders or boots? remember you bring it you carry it -- always.

An MRE or 2..and plenty of water, probably the most important thing to pack for long trips

What do you bring? same ones I use everyday / night (I typically travel light anyway) stick with what works the best..
what plugs? what colors? few pencils, a popper or two, tins, bucktails, sluggos, swimmers in white yellow blue & black
what spares? what rod and reel? spare reel
how do you carry it? large backpack
do you bring a raincoat? do you wear it or pack it? pack it
if its packed, what is it packed in? the backpack
how about waders or boots? remember you bring it you carry it -- always. wear or carry the waders
