this ever happened to anyone?

so first off let me say hello guys, as i'm a new member here...i've been surf fishin for about 3 years now, the first 2 years all i did was throw metal, but this year i got heavy into wood after readin about seeing a bass just explode on the surface.... so of course i still gotta lot to learn, but i'm completely obsessed, so i try to practice whenever i get the chance...so today i thought i would just go to this little pond about 2 min. from my house(since the beach is about an hour from me and i think it was just way to windy along our coast today) and practice walkin the dog with my new gloomis 1266c and a couple a afterhours pencils i got recently. so on my 4'th or 5'th cast while i'm popin this pencil and watching it zig zag and splash on the way back i'm thinking wow i'm actually starting to get the hang of this and i'm feelin good...when BAAMMM!!! a friggin bass justs wacks it. i couldn't believe it...the fish was barely bigger than the 7" pencil and i didn't even think their were fish in that small a pond.

Stripers go up the west coast?

Yep.. had it happen t me... wacked a striper the size of my plug a couple seasons ago. Didnt even know that it was on.. could have brought it home and put it in my aquarium :)

Pretty cool though :)

Welcome to S-B! I see that all the time , those little fish have big hearts, they'll attack anything sometimes.

Yes - there is a sizeable West Coast striper population that runs from a bit south of San Fran and north along the coast and up the Sacramento...

Welcome, and Yes!. I love them little bravehearts.. always extra carefull unhooking them and putting them back.. I want something with that much spirit to grow large and come back and fight again.
Does crack me up, when they hit a plug equal to them in size, or larger! :kewl:
