hah.

made you look.

oil is now below $60/bbl and is likely to drop steadily.

supply is burgeoning and iran is behaving.

the same nimnods who were forecasting $100 / bbl are now looking at $40 / bbl this spring.

unleaded now at $2.30 in the area, i think.

striprman 09-25-2006 10:36 AM

was $2.26 at A/prime

Karl F 09-25-2006 10:38 AM

ohhh ya got me...

whatdoya think it will do "post" elections??

I wouldnt count on cheap gas ever again, to be a permanant thing...

Swimmer 09-25-2006 10:38 AM

karl, the elections are irrelevent. we're talking to iran, which has erased the $15+/bbl fear premium in oil. not too long ago crude hit $78/bbl.

more importantly, the economy is slowing (we will use less oil).

commodities in general peak right before the economy slows.

so there's gnbn here...fishing is gonna get cheaper but people will have to worry about keeping their jobs.

ps hah this was my 69th post.

likwid 09-25-2006 11:06 AM

$2.90 on the NY state turnpike yesterday. :conf:

Karl F 09-25-2006 11:06 AM

ror. chavez is important to the extent that we need heating oil (most of our h.o. come from Venezuela). since he just expanded Citgo's program to provide discounted fuel oil to needy families in the u.s., i don't see him really as an issue.

i'm more worried about bombing iran or a coup in saudi arabia.

Ok i'm confused, when gas was over $3 a gallon this summer, folks on here were blaming Bush for it all, now prices are dropping like a rock, will the same folks give Bush credit for the drops!? I think not!

Bottom line is, Bush has nothing to do with Oil prices! Wether they are $3 a gallon or $1 a gallon!

Finally we can shut up the wackos who blamed Bush for the high prices! I think they are finally waking up and realizing prices are market driven.:)

your natural gas bill should be much easier to swallow now that amaranth (a hedge fun speccing in natgas) blew up to the tune of $6 billion. that's a lot of plugs. :rotf2:

Nebe 09-25-2006 12:08 PM

so sorry skippy, but Bush's DECISIONS effect oil prices. Since his decisions are so radical and aggressive against those who oppose us, he has in effect, created a lot of global uncertainty, which in turn makes oil prices go up, along with other tangable things like supply and demand, but global fear and global conflicts effect prices

Proceeds from S-B shirts will send Skip to Iraq with an American Flag jumpsuit, no helmet or flak jacket and a bullhorn. Please buy more than one.

fishpoopoo 09-25-2006 12:26 PM

ah, well, if you're looking for blame, india, china and hedge funds brought oil up to $65.

iran, katrina and alaska brought it up from there to $78.

one could argue that since we are a serious security concern on iran's left and right flanks (afghanistan and iraq), we've subtly forced iran to the negotiating table sooner than they would have.

but who cares, oil is down now.

Nebe 09-25-2006 12:41 PM

nope... making volume- maxing production on the days when i am working, and Im about to shut it off for a few months. In the days of cheap propane, i could blow for a half day and not worry about it. Now its blow blow blow all day to pay for the operationg costs :(

Skip N 09-25-2006 12:47 PM

WRONG as always Nebe. People were claiming the reason oil and gas was so high was because of Bush's ties to Big Oil. NOT becasue of his decisions.

Nice try at spinning this though.
