Nautical names

I was wondering how rocks, ledges ect. got their names. Most rocks look nothing like they are called...could there be a story for every name on a chart?

sow and pigs is named after a schooner laiden with iron ingots that went down on the reef- large ingots of that time were called pigs and smaller ones were called sows- i guess the bottom is littered with them.

Cleveland Ledge in Buzzards Bay was named after Grover Cleveland
