Circle Hooks

I used circle hooks for the first time the other night after reading about them on this site. I caught a 25" which basically hooked himself. My question is are there any tricks to baiting these, I had no problem with herring but Macs were a pain. I was using 7/0, do I need a bigger size?

Still without a keeper this season  I'm going to set up one of those charters with the guarenteed Keeper. :)

Not really anything special you need to do with the bait. Some people have more elaborate methods to hook the bait to get an edge but you need to do the basic hook to learn any advantage... Just hook it and if you're using a larger chunk, hook it through the belly. Also consider using a filet from the bait instead of a chunk...

If you want to try a good local to-you charter - get a couple/three of your buddys together and go out on http://AveMariaCharters.com is out of Quincy/Weymouth. The captain, Mike B, is on fish... Give him a buzz, he's also a sponsor here at S-B...
